Both monsters’ eyes fell on Darcy and she was sure her heart skipped more than one beat. One of them raised his hand and pointed directly at her. “The human.”
"I’m sorry?" Both Loki and Darcy said at the same time.
"Give us the human and we will spare you." The other finished the deal and Darcy’s eyes widened in fear.
"You’re not taking me anywhere." Darcy said as she grabbed Loki’s hand.
"Would you rather we take him instead?" The last one spoke again and before Darcy could think, she stood in front of Loki, defensively.
"Don’t even think about touching him." She said as menacingly as she could and instinctively turned around and grabbed Loki’s collar, so tight her knuckles turned into a mixture of white and red.
"We will take the human, then." Loki had been silent during her ridiculous attempt at being brave. She clung onto him, like her life depended on it, as it did right now. Her face held fear while Loki’s expression was a defying, smug smirk as if challenging both monsters to even lay a finger on Darcy.
"As much as I would love to see you try and believe me, I truly do.” He spoke, calm with a hint of amusement. Darcy’s eyes were glued to the giants as Loki’s chin lifted in an arrogant way. “The woman goes nowhere until I say so.” He said as his arm wrapped around her waist. “And I say no.” He said as he whispered ‘Hold on tight’ only for Darcy to hear and she did. The giants began sprinting towards them and Darcy closed her eyes, hiding her face against Loki’s chest. “Evening, gentlemen.” She heard him and at all once, the loud, ground-trembling steps silenced.
When Darcy opened her eyes, they were standing in her living room. He had teleported them back to the house and she wasn’t sure if she wanted to punch him for scaring her or kiss him for bringing them back.
She pulled away from him, both annoyed and relieved. “You ass! If you could that, why didn’t you zap us back from the beginning?” She said and he shrugged.
"Just a bit of fun, really." He said and she shook her head. She should have known. He’s Loki ‘Pain in the Ass’ Laufeyson, of course he’d do that.
"I hate you." She smiled as she closed the distance between them and stood on her tip toes to kiss him, wrapping her arms around his neck. She felt his lips curving up against hers and she knew right then, he was smiling too.
